History of Tornado

Originally founded as “Breuer Electric Mfg. Company” by Adam Breuer Sr, Tornado began in a small facility in Chicago, Illinois manufacturing and selling portable electric blowers for cleaning electric equipment. The company began producing commercial and industrial vacuum cleaners, hot air blowers, insecticide sprayers, and dust collectors shortly after, which lead to the company’s name being changed to “Tornado."

In 1938, the company moved to a new location on Chicago’s North Side and began making precision parts to support the Army, Air Corps, and Navy during World War II. Tornado air blowers were also being used to repair holes in airplane windows.

In 1999, Tornado began a large product, dealer, and staff expansion when three members of the senior management team acquired the business from the Breuer family. A complete line of hard and soft floor care equipment was now being carried. The company also went through a rebranding to go with the newly introduced line.
