Product Description
These floor sanding screens are commonly used for removal or repair of coatings on wood floor surfaces. An ideal application would be refinishing gym floors. They can also be used for repair of painted floor surfaces. These floor sanding screens are meant to be used with a rotary floor machine, like the CleanFreak® 17" floor buffer. They can be used wet or dry. Simply attach a screen to the bottom 17" white pad on the pad driver of the floor buffer.
The sanding screen cannot be directly attached to a standard pad driver. A spacer pad of some kind (we recommend a whitepad) is necessary to prevent damage to the pad driver or the flooring surface. The white pad serves to hold the sand screen securely in place while you work, and also not allow damage to the floor. Some loading of the screens will occur, so rinsing them out and flipping them over can extend their longevity.
Sanding screens resemble small sheets of sandpaper with a grid-like texture. They are available in various grit levels, starting from 60 grit (the most aggressive) and going up to 150 grit (considered ultra-fine). The 60 grit screens are commonly used to initially "rough up" wood floors, followed by finer grits like 80 or 100 to smooth the surface gradually until desired results are achieved. The extra fine 120 grit screens are suitable for removing minor scratches or buffing between finish coats, while the 150 grit screens leave a smooth finish after using coarser grits as needed. The choice of grit depends on the specific floor type and the task at hand.
