Sticky or tacky floor finish? We've got the top 4 causes with solutions.

Cause: Finish applied too thickly

Solution: Apply even and full coats of wax/floor finish, allowing each coat to dry properly and completely before applying another layer. Pour less solution into your wax applicator mop, or put down less floor finish, and spread it evenly over a larger area. Take a look at our floor finish application procedure for a step by step process on how to properly put down floor finish.

Cause: Floor not properly rinsed before application of finish

Solution: Thoroughly rinse floor with clear, cool water. You need to thoroughly remove all of the previous coats of floor finish and stripper before applying your new coats of floor finish. You'll need to take a look at our how to guide on floor stripping procedures for the proper instructions to remove all the old coats of wax. Then you'll need to come back over with your auto scrubber and just scrub the floor with water to thoroughly rinse the floor, and then recover that solution.

Cause: Not enough water applied to the floor during automatic scrubbing process

Solution: Increase solution flow from the walk behind auto scrubber or slow the drive speed on the scrubber, allowing more fluid and contact time to break down soils. Sometimes a pure scrub pass is needed on heavily coated floors, before coming back and scrubbing again with the squeegee down to recover the solution and old floor finish.

Cause: Cleaning solution not getting completely removed by the vacuum during the scrubbing process

Solution: Walk more slowly, or you may need to go over certain area twice if they are rough, or unsmooth. Check squeegee blades for debris or other obstructions that do not allow the squeegee to make proper contact with the floor. Check vacuum operation for any obstruction in the pick-up linkage (hoses, recovery tank, dump valve, etc.).
